NEW Biometric Visas

From 4 December 2007 all applicants for a UK visa must have their fingerprint scanned and digital photograph taken as part of the visa application process.

This will take place in your closest British Consulate, which are located in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Unfortunately, the biometric scanning appointments are not taking place outside of these consulates at the present moment.

For more information on the new biometric visas click here for the British High Commission's fact sheet.

An important note about your UK visa

The British High Commission's regulations state that your visa can only be issued while you are in your home country. Once your visa has been issued you MUST enter the UK within 3 months otherwise your visa will be invalid. Essentially, this means you cannot travel overseas for more than 3 months prior to entering the UK.
